The New Zealand sevens team will face England in the quarter-finals of the Las Vegas World Series Sevens today after accounting for traditional rivals Fiji in their pool game.
Gillies Kaka and Waisake Naholo scored New Zealand's tries in the tight match, with no point scored the second half. The victory meant Fiji were knocked out of the tournament.
The last time the two sides met, in Dubai, Fiji inflicted the worst ever defeat on New Zealand when winning 44-0.
Gordon Tietjens' men, the series leaders, beat Scotland 26-5 and Australia 31-7 in their other pool matches.
In the other quarter-finals, defending champions South Africa face Argentina, Samoa play Australia and France face Canada.
