The All Blacks Sevens have lost 22-21 to Fiji in the cup quarter-finals at the Vancouver world series event, after conceding a late intercept try.
New Zealand was on track for victory with time almost up, before Vilimoni Koroi pushed a out the back pass which was scooped up gratefully by Alosio Naduva who ran 80 metres to score.
Koroi had earlier given his side the lead with their third try.
New Zealand went on to beat Argentina 26-21 lining themselves up for a fifth place playoff and then rounding out the series with a 26-19 victory over England to secure the position.
At the pointy end of the competition, South Africa have edged France 21-12 in a thrilling final to take the overall title at the Vancouver Sevens.
