Waikato's Tim Mikkelson has joined the New Zealand sevens squad in South Africa as replacement for injured captain Tafai Ioasa.
Mikkelson will make his debut at this weekend's tournament in George, South Africa.
New Zealand won the tournament in Dubai last weekend, and is the defending champion in George, after winning there in 2006.
The tournament in South Africa will be held on December 7-8.
