New Zealand flexed their muscle as pool action continued at the Hong Kong sevens rugby tournament today.
They eased past pool D rivals Russia 54-0 with an impressive display in which mistakes were kept to a bare minimum.
New Zealand, who led 26-0 at halftime, scored eight tries in all, including two each to Zar Lawrence and Tomasi Cama.
Cama converted all but one of the tries for a personal haul of 24 points.
Having beaten Italy 41-5 in their opening match yesterday, New Zealand upped the tempo against the Russians and were helped by long-range tries to Lawrence and Adam Thomson, with Thomson's effort carrying him 85m.
New Zealand's final pool match is against Kenya later tonight ahead of tomorrow's quarterfinals.
New Zealand entered the Hong Kong tournament joint leaders of the International Rugby Board world sevens series with Fiji.
