Rugby: All Blacks Sevens settle for fifth in London

The All Blacks Sevens have finished in fifth place at the latest World Series tournament in London, beating USA convincingly in the final match.

The New Zealand side outscored the Americans four tries to one in the 26-5 victory to secure a win in their final match.

After a strong start to the tournament, a record 27-7 defeat to Fiji in their final match of pool play set up a tough quarter-final against South Africa.

Chasing the South African side on the overall standings, a win would have likely kept the All Blacks Sevens in the hunt for the overall title.

However, falling to a 14-5 defeat against South Africa put them out of contention. South Africa went on to lose 21-17 to Fiji in the final.

With Fiji and South Africa sitting first and second respectively on the ladder, the New Zealand side will lose ground with only the Paris tournament remaining in the season.
