KEY POINTS:
South Africa have confirmed interest in bidding to host the 2015 World Cup, AFP reported today.
South African Rugby Union managing director Jonathan Stones said they had written to the International Rugby Board (IRB) to find out about the tender process for the four-yearly event.
"The matter of the World Cup was discussed at the IRB's Woking conference in England last year and we (South Africa) were asked whether we'd be interested in bidding for the rights to host the 2015 showpiece," Stones said.
"We indicated we were interested, but that's where it ended. Now we want to find out about the process which will be followed."
South Africa hosted the World Cup in 1995 with the Springboks winning the event on home soil.
