The South Canterbury Rugby Football Union has been fined $4500 for its team's misbehaviour on a charter flight home from Gisborne after a Heartland match against East Coast on October 5. NZRU judicial officer Bruce Squire also issued the union with a formal warning in relation to any future misconduct by the union or its teams. The South Canterbury team were subject to a similar complaint last year over their conduct on another charter flight.
