Lochore Cup contenders Poverty Bay romped to a five-try, 36-8 win over Horowhenua-Kapiti in a Heartland rugby match in Levin today.
Within three minutes from kickoff, Poverty Bay had points on the board through a penalty by centre Ian Logan.
From then, they racked up the points through a succession of tries by Michael Mayhew, James Warren, Colin Hovell, Whaimotu Craft-Chemis and Clayton Kiwara as they dominated play.
Scott Leighton kicked four conversions for Poverty Bay.
Horowhenua-Kapiti, wearing pinck socks in support of breast cancer awareness week, finally scored in the 36th minute through a Rob Aloe penalty, followed moments later by an unconverted try to winger Francis Seamanatafa.
Seamanatafa completed a hat-trick with two second half tries, none of which were converted.
