North Otago weren't good enough to be at the scene of the Meads Cup rugby final last season but after eliminating the defending champions, they hope to dominate the other finalists on Saturday.
Playing at home as the top finishers in the Heartland Championship round-robin, North Otago beat last year's champions Wairarapa-Bush 30-13 in the semifinal and will now host Wanganui at Oamaru's Centennial Park.
Wanganui eliminated Mid Canterbury 18-12 in the other semifinal in Ashburton.
In the Lochore Cup, Poverty Bay, last year's winners, will host South Canterbury in Saturday's final.
Poverty Bay beat Thames Valley 65-3 in one of the semifinals.
South Canterbury eliminated West Coast 31-23 in the other semifinal in Timaru after leading 14-12 at halftime.
