Wayne Pivac barely has time to draw breath between jobs after today being named North Harbour rugby coach.
Pivac last week resigned as Fiji national coach, citing family reasons for his decision to bail out in World Cup year after three years in the role.
His next assignment was revealed today when North Harbour officials unveiled Pivac as their next coach, replacing Allan Pollock, who sought to retain the job after last year guiding the province to lift the Ranfurly Shield off Canterbury.
Pivac will take charge of the North Harbour side on February 7.
He coached Auckland in 1999-2003 and was named New Zealand rugby coach of the year in 2003.
North Harbour chief executive Brett Hollister said Pivac's appointment marked an exciting time for the province.
"With his outstanding provincial record and international experience he is sure to be a huge asset," Hollister said.
Pivac said he was thrilled to be appointed coach of a team he once played for.
"I am very excited to be returning to New Zealand and to the challenge as head coach of North Harbour.
"As a coach, it has always been an ambition of mine to coach a team that I once played for. This position enables me to do this and I look forward to leading North Harbour into a new era."
Pivac will lead a panel of three coaches consisting of him, Milan Yelavich, who has been reappointed as assistant coach, and an assistant backs coach.
The latter position will be advertised and officials hope to make an appointment made before the end of February.
Hollister said North Harbour were "grateful for the contribution made" by Pollock over the past three seasons.
