South African lock Victor Matfield, the man-of-the-match in last year's World Cup rugby final, has committed himself to playing for the Springboks.
Afrikaans newspaper Sondag said Matfield had made a 24-hour round trip from France, where he plays for second division Toulon, to attend a one-hour meeting with new South Africa coach Peter de Villiers.
At the end of the meeting Matfield committed himself to the Springboks.
