Former All Black coach Laurie Mains has not yet made up his mind whether to apply for the vacant Otago NPC coaching appointment.
Mains, coach of Otago from 1983 to 1991 and the All Black coach from 1992 to 1995, has arrived back in Dunedin from South Africa with his wife, Annemarie.
There has been wide public support for the return of Mains after Otago's dismal showing in this year's NPC.
In a readers' poll in the Otago Daily Times, 130 people voted for Mains' return and eight against.
Mains is due to return to Johannesburg to prepare for the Super 12 in the middle of January.
