Former All Blacks lock Chris Jack will play his rugby in South Africa before returning to the New Zealand scene.
The 30-year-old, capped 67 times by New Zealand from 2001 until 2007, is to play for Western Province in the domestic Currie Cup competition from July 1 until October 31.
Fairfax media today reported Jack will join the South African province once his stint with English club Saracens ends.
"It's very good for us because Chris has a lot of test and Super 14 experience. He is a very good lock," WP Rugby Ltd managing director Rob Wagner told South African media.
Jack last month re-signed with the New Zealand Rugby Union until 2011.
He will rejoin the Crusaders, his former team, for the 2010 Super 14.
