KEY POINTS:
A scan downgraded Brian O'Driscoll's right hamstring injury to a mild strain yesterday, and he will be given until Sunday to prove he can captain the Ireland rugby team against France.
O'Driscoll limped off just before the end of the 19-9 Six Nations win over Wales on Monday.
Injured teammates Gordon D'Arcy, Peter Stringer and Denis Leamy will also need to pass fitness tests.
Meanwhile, French hooker Dimitri Szarzewski has been ruled out of the remainder of the championship with a shoulder injury that will sideline him for up to three months.
