KEY POINTS:
Horowhenua-Kapiti maintained their unbeaten status in the Heartland Championship's Lochore Cup courtesy of a comfortable 36-6 rugby road win in Thames Valley today.
Horowhenua led only 10-6 at halftime at Rhodes Park but upped the ante in the second spell to eventually tote up six tries, including a brace to halfback Michael Papps.
Valley opened the scoring with a booming 50-metre penalty by David Harrison but Papps wiped out that early score when he dived over
The home side made a willing start to the second spell through No 8 Mike Nation but were undermined by poor ball security at the breakdown, where Horowhenua dominated the turnover count.
Valley halfback Simon Adams had a particularly difficult day, often being caught in possession before he could service his backline.
In contrast Papps and first five-eighth Rob Aloe had a dream ride for the creative visitors and were a constant menace against an opponent beaten in all facets.
Horowhenua Kapiti 36 (Michael Papps 2, Lance Golding, Erin Doyle, Sean Duseigneur, Shane Pihema tries; Rob Aloe 3 con) Thames Valley 6 (David Harrison 2 pen)
