North Harbour has given their chances of securing the fourth NPC semi final spot a huge boost by beating Southland 41 - 14 at Albany last night.
The home side ran in six tries to Southland's two, securing a valuable bonus point in the process.
Captain Troy Flavell dotted down twice in quick succession in the second half with Rua Tipoki and Slade McFarland in the first half and Walter Little, Marc Ellis in the second all crossing the line for Harbour.
Matt O'Connell and David Hill were the try scorers for the visitors.
North Harbour now has to wait for a result from the Taranaki/Counties Manukau match today to see if they will meet Canterbury in the semi final next week.
