Otago rugby coach Kevin Gloag yesterday remained silent about his future.
Gloag's Otago NPC contract expires at the end of the season, but he still has another year to run on his contract as assistant coach with the Super 12 Highlanders.
"I'm not in a position to make any comment at this stage," he said. "At the moment, it's not appropriate for me to say anything."
Gloag declined to comment on whether he would seek a renewal of his Otago contract, and also on his situation with the Highlanders.
The delay appears to be caused by his Super 12 contract, with the New Zealand Rugby Football Union having major input into the Super 12 coaching appointments.
The Otago Rugby Football Union is expected to advertise the job of NPC coach soon.
Union chief executive John Hornbrook said it was hoped the NPC coach would be able to be named in early to mid-November.
