KEY POINTS:
An incident in which a Tauranga junior rugby player had his hand cut shaking hands with an opposition player has been closed to the satisfaction of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union.
The match involved two teams of 10- and 11-year-olds from the Tauranga Sports Club. It was alleged later that one player hid a piece of glass in his hand while shaking hands with the opposition. Bay rugby chief Paul Abbot said at least one player received a minor cut to the hand with a piece of glass.
But he said the union, while reserving the right to investigate further if it got additional information, had decided to take no further action.
