New Zealand under-19 rugby coach John Boe has been appointed assistant coach to Peter Sloane with the Highlanders.
Board chairman Colin Weatherall said yesterday that Boe brought enormous experience to the role and would complement Sloane well.
Boe coached the NZ under-19 team to victory in the world junior championship last year and to the semifinal this year.
He coached Waikato from 1995-1998, was assistant coach of the Chiefs in 1997, of NZ A last year, and of Manu Samoa this year.
