LONDON - Johan Ackermann joined South Africa today as cover in case injured lock Bakkies Botha was unavailable for the Springboks' season finale against the Barbarians this weekend.
Botha hurt his ankle in the Springboks' 34-12 win over Wales at Cardiff on Sunday.
Ackermann, 37, played his 13th and last test in an 11-year international career against Australia in the Tri-Nations, but missed out on the World Cup champion squad.
