Speculation became declaration yesterday as John Boe and John Mitchell brought their Chiefs coaching aspirations into the open.
After plenty of discussion, the two proud Waikato rugby men decided it was counter-productive for them to fight over the jobs left vacant by Ross Cooper's departure.
It was better if they united in their application for the Chiefs' coaching jobs for next year's Super 12 series.
As revealed in yesterday's Herald, Boe and Mitchell will apply as a team under Boe's guidance whenthe jobs are advertised this weekend.
"I would love to work with John," Boe said yesterday in confirming the duo's intention.
"He would be very much like a Mark Shaw-type coach and give you the guarantee that all the work has been done with the forwards.
"We just have a passion about the progress and direction of the Chiefs.
"We want to put our hands up to say we want to help if we are needed."
