KEY POINTS:
LONDON - Italian rugby flanker Mauro Bergamasco was cited today for his part in the incident in the Six Nations match against Wales that left Welsh captain Stephen Jones needing stitches to a facial cut.
Bergamasco appeared to catch Jones with a swinging arm while the Welshman was on the ground during Saturday's game and though the match officials did not see the incident it was highlighted by TV coverage.
Jones had to go to the bloodbin for treatment and after his return to the fray handed the placekicking duties to centre James Hook.
Bergamasco's hearing will be held in London tomorrow when any ban will rule the flanker, one of Italy's key players, out of next Saturday's final match at home to Ireland.
Six Nations officials also said there would be no citing from Scotland's game against Ireland.
Irish coach Eddie O'Sullivan said his first five-eighth Ronan O'Gara had been choked by a Scotland player at the end of the Murrayfield match.
O'Gara needed urgent medical attention after losing consciousness in a ruck in the final seconds of the game.
Scottish officials denied any foul play and the citing officials said in a statement they could find no evidence of any.
"The independent citing commissioner, Brian Fowler (Wales), has confirmed that, after studying all the footage and evidence provided to him after the match, using all means at his disposal in the time permitted of 50 hours from kick-off, including enhanced images on game analysis software, he has found no incidents of foul play to cite under the Six Nations and IRB regulations," the statement said.
