Wallabies coach Michael Cheika is delighted second rowers Will Skelton and Kane Douglas were sent to the sidelines during training yesterday after a heated and physical exchange as opponents in a driving maul after a lineout.
The physicality was just what Cheika was wanting of his two packs in the squad of 31 that leaves on their World Cup campaign on Saturday, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
Just as happy as Cheika was his set-piece coach, Argentinian Mario Ledesma, the former Pumas hooker who played in four World Cups.
After the dual a bloodied skipper Stephen Moore appeared to attempt to calm the situation.
Ledesma said physicality at training was something Cheika liked, not only in the scrum sessions or the driving mauls. Every training was really intense.
