Auckland beat Taranaki 42 - 14 in their NPC clash at Eden Park last night.
Taranaki opened the scoring in the first half but Auckland replied with two quick tries before the break to lead 23 - 7 at half time.
Fullback Adrian Cashmore dotted down twice for the home side.
In the only other game played last night second division side Nelson Bays has beaten King Country
27-17.
