The controversial adidas rugby ball will not be used in the upcoming Tri Nations series.
The NZRFU has made the decision after a recommendation from adidas.
Players have questioned the ball's weight and flight patterns from the All Blacks tests so far this season.
Adidas All Black Brand Manager Andrew Gaze says his company has taken the comments of the players very seriously and wants to make the best product available to them at all times.
He says the ball will now undergo extensive quality control tests to create the best ball possible.
The NZRFU will use the Gilbert ball for the Tri Nations.
