KEY POINTS:
Crusaders and Wallabies rugby coach Robbie Deans has been warned after a near miss between his jetboat and a tourist boat on the Shotover River, but no further action will be taken, authorities say.
Deans narrowly missed colliding with a Shotover Jet full of tourists earlier this month.
Both boats had to take evasive action with Deans clipping a rock-face in the narrow river canyon to avoid collision.
Deans, who had failed to stop at a signposted point, had apologised for the incident.
Queenstown harbourmaster Marty Black issued a written warning to Deans and Maritime New Zealand were notified.
Maritime New Zealand spokesman Ross Henderson said no further action would be taken against Deans.
"We're satisfied that because the incident was reported to us, there was no damage or injury and the skipper accepted full responsibility, we don't see a need to take any further action."
Mr Henderson said the incident had led to a review of safety measures on the river.
"We note that all the parties involved met this week to discuss issues that came out of (the incident), with regards to people being able to access the river.
"It was a very positive meeting and we're satisfied that the measures that came out of it will ensure that this sort of thing doesn't happen again."
