Radio Sport's Brian Ashby talked to Canterbury captain Richie McCaw and Bay of Plenty skipper Wayne Ormond immediately after last night's match.
BA: As rookie captain you're through to your first NPC final. How are you feeling right now?
RMc: Pretty stoked. I think we played reasonably well tonight. Probably in the first half we really put it together and paved the way.
BA: That first 20 minutes there seemed to be so much emotion in the Bay of Plenty team, they came out firing. Do you think in some way that worked against them, they were so fired up and you kept the composure?
RMc: We were pretty fired up as well. They were always going to do that. They had to approach it with nothing to lose, we had to do that as well. I think we matched them pretty well.
BA: Congratulations to you Richie.

BA: You must be proud tonight, Wayne.
WO: Definitely. It was probably not the way we wanted to go out. We came down here with high expectations. We came out with everything we could against Canterbury. They're a strong team, I wish them all the best for next week.
BA: Early on in the game, conceding a few penalties, did that make it pretty hard playing catch up throughout?
WO: It did. We set a goal to be careful on our discipline, but in the first 20 minutes we might have let ourselves down on that score.
BA: You have two plane-loads of Bay of Plenty supporters that came down to join you. What has the success of the Bay of Plenty done for rugby in the region this year?
WO: It has been enormous. Hopefully it can only get better and better from now on. We have set a level last year, we went forward again this year. We have to come back the following year with high expectations.
