New Zealand outplayed a World 15 to win their women's rugby international 37-0 at Eden Park, Auckland today.
The world champion home side made a slow start but found their rhythm in the latter stages against opponents who had limited preparation.
All four of the New Zealand tries - scored by centre Amiria Marsh, captain and hooker Farah Palmer, first five-eighth Anna Richards and debut reserve back Stacey Lene - were converted by winger Hannah Myers. Myers also kicked three penalties.
The World 15, led by 73-test England veteran Gillian Burns defended well for much of the match after playing with minimal possession.
The two teams meet in a second and final test at Whangarei on Saturday next week.
