Russell re-signs with Hawke's Bay

Hawke's Bay rugby coach Peter Russell has re-signed with the union for a further two seasons.

Having guided Hawke's Bay to the semifinals of the Air NZ Cup for each of the last three years, Russell will continue coaching the Magpies in their 2010 and 2011 campaigns.

"Along with Forwards Coach Tom Coventry, Peter has formed an excellent coaching combination that has brought significant success to our province since they were first appointed in 2007," Hawke's Bay chief executive Mike Bishop said.

Bishop said Russell's experience as assistant coach of the Highlanders Super 14 rugby team had added to his breadth of knowledge.
