Injuries have ruled out Adam Whitelock and Ryan Crotty from the Canterbury team to play Auckland in the ITM Cup premiership final in Christchurch on Saturday.
Wing Whitelock and second-five Crotty were both injured in last weekend's semifinal win over Taranaki.
Tom Taylor joins Robbie Fruean in the midfield, with Telusa Veainu and Willi Heinz, normally a halfback, named on the wings.
Canterbury will sport two All Blacks' props in their starting XV, with Wyatt Crockett and Ben Franks named in the front row.
