KEY POINTS:
Injured Wellington halfback Piri Weepu will miss Saturday's Air NZ Cup rugby match against Tasman and could also miss out on the following round of the competition.
X-rays have proved inconclusive on the type of injury or the extent of the damage he has on his left ankle.
A Wellington spokesman said Weepu would miss Saturday's home match against Tasman and could also be out against Counties-Manukau the following Friday.
Weepu, surprisingly unwanted by the national selectors for next month's World Cup, was injured in last Saturday's 23-41 loss to Canterbury in Christchurch.
At first the injury did not appear to be a serious one but the ankle swelled overnight and Weepu was on crutches on Monday.
Weepu was to have further tests on the ankle in the next few days.
