Champions Waikato today named six new players in their rugby squad for their defence of the Air New Zealand Cup.
There is one new forward in the 27-strong squad, in hooker Vern Kamo.
The other newcomers are halfback David Bason, winger-fullback James Kamana, and midfielders Jackson Willison, Watene Waenga and Roimata Hansell-Pune.
Former All Black hooker Tom Willis has been confirmed as captain for the upcoming campaign.
Unavailable for selection because of test duty were fullback Mils Muliaina, winger Sitiveni Sivivatu, lock Keith Robinson, and halfbacks Byron Kelleher and Brendon Leonard.
Out with injury were midfield back Richard Kahui and halfback Malcolm Barnes.
Waikato open their defence against Manawatu in Palmerston North on Thursday of next week.
