KEY POINTS:
The Tasman Rugby Union is confident it has some support from the NZRU board as its fate in the Air New Zealand Cup is decided.
The NZRU will decide at its final board meeting of the year today whether to keep Tasman in the competition next season.
Tasman boss Peter Barr says they have lobbied the rugby community and there is considerable support among the provincial unions. He says it is a position they are used to but they have made a presentation to chief executive Steve Tew and chairman Jock Hobbs so now they can only wait.
Barr says it has been hanging over their heads for some time but they are looking forward to a definitive answer.
Barr does acknowledge that they do have a budget shortfall which they continue to work on, but many provincial unions have the same problem.
