Tasman are the only team left with a perfect record in the Mitre 10 Cup, after taking down Taranaki 28-18 in New Plymouth this afternoon.
Two tries to Tima Fainga'anuku - including one right before halftime to give the Mako an 18-6 lead - were pivotal, and while Taranaki cut the gap after the break through a try to Lachlan Boshier, a penalty and a Finlay Christie try saw Tasman create a comfortable buffer which they were able to hold to claim their fourth win in four games.
That 100 per cent record sees Tasman move to 19 points, holding a five point buffer over second-placed Auckland at the top of the Premiership ladder.
Taranaki, who were the other side to be a perfect three-from-three to start the season, now find themselves in second on the Championship ladder, behind Bay of Plenty.
