Taranaki rugby wing Andre Taylor will miss the rest of the national provincial championship rugby season after emergency surgery to repair a ruptured bowel on the weekend.
Taylor, 22, became unwell at the after-match function as the team celebrated Saturday's 30-16 win over Manawatu.
Taranaki manager Shane McDonald told the Taranaki Daily News Taylor was taken to hospital where a scan revealed the player had a tear in his bowel and he was operated on.
Taylor scored one of Taranaki's four tries in Saturday's match and told McDonald he possibly did the damage when he crashed through two Manawatu tacklers for the touchdown.
