There's still no place for Luke McAlister in the North Harbour side, despite the former All Black being available for selection.
McAlister hasn't been named in the 22 for Saturday's Ranfurly Shield challenge against Southland.
Coach Liam Barry says the nature of McAlister's hamstring injury makes him too much of a risk for the match but they still intend to use him in the latter rounds of the ITM Cup.
Lock James King will miss the match because of a concussion, replaced by Irwin Finau.
