KEY POINTS:
Hawkes Bay's appeal against prop Clint Newland's 10-week suspension will be heard by a New Zealand Rugby Union appeal council on Monday.
Newland's season- ending ban was handed out by a NZRU judicial committee this month after he punched Wellington All Black Neemia Tialata in their Air New Zealand Cup second-round match in Napier on August 4.
Tialata was concussed as a result, but Hawkes Bay felt the suspension excessive.
The appeal council will consist of Southland lawyer and rugby administrator John Pringle (chairman), former NZRU president and All Blacks coach Peter Burke, Wellington lawyer Stephen Ward and Bruce Squire, QC, who has been co-opted by the appeal council to assist.
