The Canterbury Rugby Union has today confirmed that it is exercising its right to call flanker Jordan Taufua back into the squad for the ITM Cup semifinal match against Taranaki on Saturday.
Taufua is a Canterbury-contracted player but is on loan to the Tasman Rugby Union.
His loan agreement includes an injury call-back clause, which means that Canterbury have the right to ask Taufua to return to the squad if needed due to injuries.
Canterbury loose forward Nasi Manu has been ruled out of Saturday's match, with Matt Todd in doubt with a knee injury.
The Taufua call-back is convenient for Canterbury but leaves Tasman in the lurch ahead of their Championship semifinal against Otago in Dunedin on Friday night.
