Canterbury have added three more young players to their Wider Training Group ahead of next month's Mitre 10 Cup.
Head coach Scott Robertson announced a 28-man Wider Training Group last month, but has since added three additional players to the group.
Robertson said halfback Logan Crowley from Lincoln University, midfielder Braydon Ennor from the University club and Liam Smart from Sydenham had all impressed enough in their club season to earn the call-up to the squad.
"We are continuing to keep a close eye on club players and there is still opportunity for players to be added to the group if they are proving that they deserve that chance, just as these three have. The purpose of this Wider Training Group is to prepare players for possible inclusion in the eventual Mitre 10 Cup squad, so it is a great opportunity for players to prove that they're ready to take that next step up to provincial rugby. We have a huge amount of talent in the group and that makes me incredibly excited about the season ahead," Robertson said.
Crowley was in the 2015 Canterbury Under 19s which won the Jock Hobbs national Under 19 tournament in Taupo. Ennor played his First XV rugby in the 1A-winning St Kentigern side in Auckland last year, while Smart is a 2013 NZ Schools rep, originally out of St Bede's College.
