Waikato player Sione Lauaki has been suspended from all rugby for two weeks for a high tackle in last Saturday's Ranfurly Shield match in Christchurch.
Lauaki had been cited by Commissioner Steve Hinds for an alleged dangerous tackle on Canterbury first five-eighths Cameron McIntyre in the 62nd minute of the match.
At the NZRU hearing today, the Waikato and All Black loose forward candidly acknowledged the tackle was high and accordingly dangerous and therefore the only issue to be decided was the penalty.
Lauaki's penalty will mean he will miss Waikato's next two matches, against North Harbour and Bay of Plenty.
The judicial committee consisted of Mattie Blackburn, Merlin Shannon and Chris Morris as the Chairman.
