All Blacks squad callup Jerome Kaino will play off the bench for NPC first division rugby frontrunners Auckland against Bay of Plenty in Tauranga on Sunday.
Kaino has trained with the All Blacks this week but wasn't required for their playing 22 for tomorrow's Tri-Nations test against the Wallabies.
His shift to the bench is one of three changes to the Auckland starting lineup from last Sunday's 38-37 victory over Southland.
Openside flanker Daniel Braid returns to a reshuffled loose forward trio, with Angus MacDonald moving to No 8.
Hooker John Fonokalafi replaces Semisi Telefoni while in the backs, Sam Tuitupou returns to second five-eighth after being benched last weekend.
It means Ica Nacewa shifts from midfield to the right wing, replacing James Somerset.
