Waikato 43
Bay of Plenty 10
Waikato's bevy of stars in the making put on a masterclass in Tauranga today, crushing Bay of Plenty 43-10.
The up-and-coming Chiefs duo of Brad Weber and Damian McKenzie shone running the show from the middle of the park, but 21-year old lock James Tucker was the standout, putting in a stellar performance in all areas.
The former New Zealand Under 20's lock was a presence all over the field, dominating at the ruck, lineout, and open-field play, with his workrate and offloading skill leading to several Waikato tries as the visitors ran riot to move into third on the ITM Cup Premiership ladder.
Bay Of Plenty took the lead with a penalty after just six minutes, but that was as good as it got for Clayton McMillan's troops who were playing their third game in 10 days.
