Waikato first five-eighth Stephen Donald will appear before a New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) judicial committee after being sent off last Saturday.
Donald was ordered from the field early in the second half of his team's Air New Zealand Cup match against Northland in Hamilton for a dangerous tackle.
He had earlier been sinbinned for a similar offence by referee Keith Brown.
Under NZRU rules for disciplinary hearings, any player who receives a red card faces an automatic judicial hearing.
Donald's hearing will take place in Wellington at 4pm on Wednesday.
