Taranaki rugby coach Kieran Crowley is calling for greater transparency and decisive action when it comes to dealing with referees who make serious blunders and affect the outcome of matches in the Air New Zealand Cup.
Crowley is still seething over the performance of match officials in Taranaki's loss to Bay of Plenty last weekend - he has lodged an official complaint.
He says he can not understand why the referees are not subject to the same process as players and coaches.
Kieran Crowley says if a player "stuffs up" they are dropped, and the reasons are aired in the media, so the same should go for match officials.
Crowley fears some referees do not understand the serious consequences their decisions have on the future of players and coaches.
