Auckland won the second match of their Pacific islands rugby tour beating Samoa 21-16 in Apia yesterday (NZ time).
Using the tour to prepare for the inaugural Air New Zealand Cup domestic competition starting next week, Auckland had earlier beaten a Fiji Warriors selection team 35-17 in Lautoka.
They scored three tries to one, with their touchdowns coming from David Smith, Jamie Helleur and Onosai Tololima-Auva'a.
All of Samoa's points came from Chiefs utility back Loki Crichton, who scored a try, converted it and added three penalties.
Auckland 21 (David Smith, Jamie Helleur, Onosai Tololima-Auva'a tries; Brent Ward 3 con)
Samoa 16 (Loki Crichton try; 3 pen, con).
