Former All Black Jonah Lomu is recovering today after surgery at an Auckland hospital to repair an injured shoulder.
Lomu hurt his left shoulder playing in Englishman Martin Johnson's testimonial match in London on June 4, his first match in nearly two years after undergoing treatment for a debilitating kidney complaint.
"The operation took approximately three hours and from a technical viewpoint it went well," says North Harbour team doctor, John Mayhew.
He said Lomu could be home in the next few days but his arm will be in a sling for six to eight weeks.
Lomu, 30, had been planning his comeback campaign with North Harbour before the shoulder injury.
Dr Mayhew said Lomu would be out of action for a minimum of four months.
