King Country's visit to Levin to play Horowhenua-Kapiti today will have more than third division points at stake.
The teams will compete for the Lochore Challenge Cup.
"The Lochore Cup came to us because holders North Otago got promoted ... it's certainly going to spice up the match," Horowhenua-Kapiti manager Stuart Pescini said.
The two teams start the season as favourites to take the divisional title.
Other matches today are West Coast against Wairarapa Bush in Greymouth, South Canterbury at home in Timaru to Poverty Bay, and Wanganui hosting Buller.
