Chris Latham has reclaimed the Wallabies fullback berth for the one-off test against France in Brisbane on Saturday.
Latham relegated Mat Rogers to the bench when the team were named yesterday, after missing last weekend's win over Italy because of a hamstring injury.
In the only other change, Brumbies lock Alister Campbell comes on to the bench and could make his test debut, replacing young Queenslander Hugh McMeniman, who was released from the Wallabies squad to work on his physical development.
Coach Eddie Jones said that while Latham deserved his spot back in the starting XV, Rogers was unlucky to miss out.
"While it's disappointing for Matty, who has played well in his three opportunities over the past three weeks, Chris has played consistently well at fullback for a number of tests now and deserves to be reinstated."
Campbell is set to become the 798th player to represent Australia.
"The decision to rest Hugh McMeniman opens up an opportunity for Al Campbell to become the fifth new player we've introduced to test rugby already this season," Jones said.
"Al gained some valuable experience in France last year with Australia A against the French Barbarians, and then again last Sunday against the Junior All Blacks in Canberra.
"He's worked hard in the short space of time since joining the squad in Coffs Harbour and has certainly showed plenty of enthusiasm."
French wing Julien Laharrague has been handed the job of stopping Wallabies counterpart Lote Tuqiri.
Laharrague, who prefers to play fullback, has been promoted from the bench in favour of Vincent Clerc.
Tuqiri scored four tries against Italy to move him into ninth place on Australia's try-scoring list just two years after making his debut.
Laharrague is one of seven changes made to France's starting XV by coach Bernard Laporte after they lost the second test, and the series, to South Africa last weekend.
Laporte has brought in a new front-row in Olivier Milloud, Dimitri Swarzewski and Denis Avril, and has dumped halfback Dimitri Yachvili to the bench in favour of Jean Baptiste Elissalde.
Yachvili was the captain against the Springboks, but Elissalde will lead the side against Australia.
Benoit Baby will partner Yannick Jauzion in the midfield, with Damien Traille dropped to the bench, while Olivier Magne replaces Yannick Nyanga in the No 7 jersey.
