Fresh from their Ranfurly Shield triumph on Sunday, Canterbury are set to receive more good news with Chris Jack expected to be available for the NPC first division match against Taranaki on Sunday.
The 2.02m All Black lock has been rested from rugby since playing for the All Blacks in their final Tri-Nations test against South Africa on August 14, but joined the Canterbury squad for training last week.
The shield should be safely retained in Canterbury's trophy cabinet over the summer, with lowly Southland and Northland the only challengers.
Southland have their challenge on September 18 and winless Northland follow three weeks later.
