Former All Black Jeremy Stanley will not play for Auckland again this season and may have played his last game of rugby.
The 26-year-old midfielder damaged his neck and some vertebrae when he was hit hard in a tackle against the Taranaki side a fortnight ago.
"Jeremy is certainly out this year and there are doubts whether he will ever play again," Auckland coach Wayne Pivac said yesterday.
Meanwhile, North Harbour have lost wing Scott Adams for the season after he broke several bones in a hand in the win against Auckland.
Another wing, Aisea Tuilevu, is still a few weeks away from playing after damaging his knee in the opening match against Otago.
